Megzy's poetry!!

i thought i made this thread already..but it seems to have disappeared!! anyways..havent written poetry in about a year or 2 until now.i'm a bit rusty but this is what i came up with today..

Reflection

She sat at the riverside
looked deep into it's depths,
searching for an answer
which of course she failed to get.

She was looking for herself
looking for a new release,
but she didn't find it there
and what she found, it didn't please.

She hated what she saw
hated all of her reflection,
she asked the river to take her
it pulled her in without objection.

Her sadness was finally noticed,
but by then it was too late,
she had been tortured by her own image
she was destroyed by her self hate.

Nevr Be Alone

i was so happy
you were there
one call
and you would come running,
i trusted you
you promised
i'd never be alone.

But you lied
i know now
one fight
you didn't mind leaving,
I was scared
I was sad
you went
and left me broken.

I think you should try to incorporate more unconventional themes, metres and structures into your work. You have good ideas, but they tend to get buried beneath an age old and rather played out formula.
Look to more strange sources for inspiration and try to do your own emotions justice by writing the best work you possibly can. The "children's book" style is an easy trap to fall into and a hard one to fall out of.
