The story of Angel
Life. It's a cruel game. It moves so fast: one moment you're here, you know a certain number of people and you can't imagine life without them; the next you're there, you know different people and the others are mere ghosts of your past, haunting your dim and deeply buried memories. Angel was one of those ghosts.
She had problems, just like any other normal teenage girl. She was short, slight, with a smile that made others happy to see it. She may have been weak physically but she was strong mentally-quick with dry comments and slow with punches. She despised violence and always tried her best to keep everyone happy. She'd been through a lot for a 14 year old, she had so many memories that she locked away and hid from view. She had friends, a boyfriend, what resembled a social life. She appeared lively, bouncy, happy but sometimes quiet and reserved. She was socailly awkward and preferred to keep her mouth shut unless asked. She was a hard one to work out. Her friends knew much less than they thought; she had only ever confided everything to one person-her boyfriend.
And one day she went away.
For several hours nobody noticed-she spent so much time locked up in her room anyway that it was hard to tell if she was there or not. Then her parents couldn't find her. Then she missed a date with her boyfriend-which NEVER happened. Nothing could separate Angel and her boyfriend. Then she missed school for a whole week and her friends were worried sick. Nobody knew where she was, whether she was dead or alive, why she'd done it. None of her clothes had been touched. She hadn't taken anything with her, she'd left her room just how she would have had she just popped out to run an errand for Mum, or get something from the supermarket, save a note on her computer monitor saying "goodbye".
Nobody knew why apart from herself. She'd felt trapped. Trapped by her own love. She loved her boyfriend with all her heart and all her mind but she felt rejected by him. Sometimes he would go cold and want to be alone and she felt he was pushing her away. Scared, hysterical and confused she fled.
No one thought about Angel anymore - she became a memory, swept away in the tides of life. After a while she ceased to exist completely; she was but a shadow, a flicker, a double take on a crowded street. Nobody saw her ever again, and after a while nobody cared. Life moved on, with or without her.
Life.
It's a cruel game.
