You Never Have to Lose
In the last year I may have received the worst blow of my life, the passing of my brother. While everyone around me seemed to be missing my brother and looking at all the gloomy sides to it, I looked for the silver lining. I am the type of person that believes anything can be seen as good or bad, and I like to see the good. Anything we go through has a lesson to be learned, so instead of thinking of the pain, think of the positive things. Look at what you have to gain, the knowledge, and the experience, which can mold you into a better and stronger person.
If you begin looking for the silver lining, which I never been in a situation where I couldn’t find one, you cannot lose. If you take something away from the struggle, the struggle itself was not worthless. We must fight to stay conscious and look for the wisdom, which in turn will heal any wounds left from that part of your journey. If you look at the bright side, you’re world will be brighter, if you look at the dimmer side, your life will be darker.
Scott Peck once wrote, “Salvation is the process of becoming increasingly consciousness”, which is a marvelous gift God has given us. When Adam and Eve ate the apple, we as human beings became conscious. Now God will never leave us without the required tools to survive. Salvation means to heal, thus, the more conscious we become the more our wounds will heal. The more silver linings we see, the more healing that occurs. God has given us the best gift in the world, the ability to heal ourselves.
When my brother passed away, I started examining the way he lived, the morals and values that dictated his behavior here on Earth. He was very humble, and would not do great things just for the attention, in fact, he hide his great deeds. He didn’t need credit, for he knew inside he had done the right thing, and to him that was all that mattered. He was also a family man, who cared very much for his family and would cut off his right arm to help anyone of his family members. Those are just two out of the many lessons I’ve learned since he died. Being conscious and looking for what could be learned by his passing, I walk away feeling like I’ve won and so has he.
There is always more than one emotion to be felt, more than one prism to see through, so what you feel and see is up to you.
