Choices

Every decision you encounter has at least two possible choices, maybe more. How do you decide what to do when you want to do everything, but can only do one of them? Perhaps you want to go to the movies with your friends, but you also have a history test tomorrow. What do you consider before you choose which one you want to do?

When faced with a decision like the one above it is very important to weigh the pros and cons of each choice. Thus, by doing this you are making a list. Prioritizing your choices is a great way to make a sound decision. In the case of going to the movies verse studying you might come up with a list similar to this. Pros to going to the movies: great company, great stress reliever after a hard day, and a chance to get to know this girl you’ve been trying to meet. The cons of going to the movies might entail: you miss out on some good study time, your parents will be upset if you do poor, and could result in you being grounded. The pros of studying could include: doing well on the test, making your folks proud of you, and feeling a sense of accomplishment. The cons might be: missing out on a moment to meet this lovely young woman, and missing out on some laughs. I would hope that your education would be higher in your priorities than hanging out, as the benefits surely out weight the cons.

When you are in situation when you must make a decision, you need to weigh the pros and cons to each side. You must also know what is more important to you, in example, your education or the time with friends? Last but surely not least, make the decision that you know is the best choice for you. Listen to your gut.
