Right well this is gonna sound utterly ridiculous.

I am 19 and home alone because my parents are on holiday for a week. Now, this is all good and well, but at night I really manage to freak myself out. Once it's dark I manage to work myself up. When going into a new room I imagine there's gonna be someone in there waiting for me. Or if I open my bedroom door there'll be someone scary on the other side. I just went to the toilet and could've sworn I heard someone sawing wood outside the window. And I've been jumping at any sound - something just fell off my desk and my heart lept a mile!

What scares me most is that in the unlikely event of someone breaking in or whatever, I am home alone and pretty much defenceless. I would be a goner, no doubt. Me being alone in the house would stand the same chance as a small child left alone. I would certainly have the same fate.

So yeah, I'm just a bit stupid really. A grown girl scared that a big scary man is gonna come get her at night. Meh.

It happens, but most of the time what is making it so scary is your imagination...

The chances of somone breaking in are very small, but if somone does, even a kid with a baseball bat is pretty dangerous yeah?
Just lock the doors, but the best thing you can do is try not to think about it at all, because that is what is freaking you out....

And if it is REALLY getting to you, just invite a friends over.

hey its all sweet, im a grown boy and i still get paranoid at my house when im home alone.
Just carry an object around that makes you feel safe, a knife, gun... teddy bear, what ever

And in the event of a break in, just hide in a closit.
People dont break in to murder random people, they break in to steal shit..
Just get in the back of your cupboard quietly, put some stuff over you(clothes etc) and be quiet.

The robber doesnt want to kill you and he sure as hell wants to get out of there fast before any one comes home.

I always scare myself when I'm home alone! Stairs freak me out...I always imagine somebody's behind me so I have to run up/down the stairs.

Just try and calm yourself down and do something that'll take your mind off it.

Didnt you live in halls this year? Did you have the same feelings their? could it be that home feels a bit strange to you right now, like if you moved house and its your first time alone in your new place?
I usd to get freaked out when i was home alone at the bungalow. Big scary hairy hard wrestler man, had to get his freinds to come over and live with him for a week because i was scared! so dont worry its perfectly normal to be nurvis. invite some ppl over for a small social gathering (DO NOT UNDER ANY SURCOMSTANCES ADVERTISE SAID SOCIAL GATHERING ON MYSPACE OR FACE BOOK OR ANY OTHER SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES!

I used to be the same way, but I just kinda grew out of it. Having a friend around is always a good idea if it just becomes to much to bear

Eehe, when i was littler my brother would always tell me there was somthing he needed to show me downstairs because he was too scared to go down there alone
