trying to stay quit

i had stopped for almost a year... things were going good... then things went back to bad... and i did it again... its been 3 weeks since the last time... i hope that this time i can keep it at bay... it seems so much more difficult when i feel so numb...

ive only ever self harmed once so i couldnt really give any advice...
If you dont already, try writing down how your feeling and why you are feeling this way

this dosnt always work but i know people that have really positive results to this: if it gets so bad that you just have to SI then get a red felt tip pen and draw a red line where u want to cut.

I've managed to stop SI'ing for at least 2 years now.
I SI'd all the time when i was younger cuz things were so crap.
I kept a diary. Found people to talk to about the things that were making me do it.
Do you know the causes of you feeling numb?
What was making everything go so well?
If you still have that then use it. If you could stop for nearly a year then your strong enough to stop for good.
If you need anyone to talk to privately i'd be happy to listen.
You can do it =]

I agree with what everyone's saying here. you have to distract yourself from the numbness.
I've been SI free for 3 years now. There are times where i think about picking where i left off, but the truth is it's enpowering to know that i can get through everything and still be SI free.

like everyone says, buy a notepad and everyday write. it doesn't really matter what you write as long as you're writing. about the weather, your day, and soon enough you'll be able to write about how you're feeling.

Also, if it gets bad, get a luckyband. (Hair lucky) and wear it on your wrist. whenever you feel like hurting yourself flick the luckyband on your wrist... it helps. you get that pain but no cuts. but you can stop...

thanks for the advice.... and i feel so terrible kuz i cut again.... and its like i wasted all my effort on not doing it for nothing.... oi... idk... i always have a rubber band on my wrist but it doesn't always keep me from it..... i break about 6 or more every week..... and i have a diary... its really nice.. leather... i write in it everyday... ive kept one since i was 15...ive been through a lot of those.. lol...idk... thanks tho...

hurting yourself either way, be it with a rubber band, knife, hitting yourself... in the end its all still Self harm..
You need to find something that you can show the true you through it.
Your an amazing person, i can see it... but im not so sure that you can right now.

Sanity, everyo ne relapses, its sadly all apart of recovery. It's good that you see it as not being a positive thing, but you should NOT feel bad or guilty about it. if you need to talk im hear for you darlin

I agree that all have relapses... and I believe that relapses are needed. Because if you can get past this relapse you know that you have truely recovered.... and that recovery is a choice, because you know you can stop, no matter how hard it is, you can because you have proved it to yourself.
So is this a relapse a proof of victory or just starting over?
And writing is a great idea that should help, and this is going to sound really dumb, but when you feel the urge the need find an upbeat song something that you know makes you want to dance or rock out, and nine times out of ten you will cease the urge.
