Thumbs up Vacation Time Finally-school is too long

My wife teaches school and my son are on vacation this whole week. I'm retired and not alone for now. Even though you have a lot to do, when you retire the flow and workoholic mentality takes about a year to set it. I finally don't have to go to work after 40 years of my life(I'm only 54).. It's a great feeling to do whatever you want everyday. For the first time also in your life, you don't have to answer to some ahole BS principal who knows sh... I'll probably see you all next week.We have tickets to see Spyro Gyra and Chuck Mangione. We'll probably also go to see Les Paul at the Irridium in Manhattan, Monday evening. He invented the Les Paul guitar that everybody uses, including Slash, VanHalen, Joe Satriani and all the other new heavy metal groups. My son has super ears and likes classic rock. I'm first learning about Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Guns& Roses, Lynnard Synnard and others. All I did was listen to jazz in those days and missed a whole era of music. These guys are tight groups and excellent players. I don't push my son to practice like I did, 6-7 hrs /day plus gigs at night. It is fun for him now. He is a sophomore in HS. I would not push anyone into the music business though I love it. I played Broadway and was horrified. Most musicians watch little TV's on stands with ear plugs during a show and have no interaction with you. They boose it in their lockers, are bummed out and don't even talk to anyone. This was something I never knew until I started playing these gigs. You are just expected to play your part real soft the same each evening, and play soft, don't stand out as a player or try to play with emotion and communicate. Plus for all the shows, 6 nights and 2 matinees, the money is not worth it. I love music though. Probably was meant to be as an inner attraction to help eliminate Tourettes. When you play, you feel no urges or thoughts in your body. It's a great feling. My son is now on his own getting into jazz. I idn't force him but I guess the concerts and playing around the house helped. Opps, I'm being called to play a game of Nintendo's Mario Brawl. A great game. My favorite character is Ness.
See you all, Lou Vitti
