It dawned on me today that I haven't stopped into this old place in a long time. Figured I should probably say hi.
Whether I'll be checking in as often as I used to, I'm not sure. Something changed here, it wasn't a negative change but it was jarring at the time. Alot of the people I became good friends with on the ancient original exasco never came back when this got started up and I just needed a break I guess. But I appear to be back now and I figure at the very least I'll start coming back twice a month or so, just to see how everyone's holding up.
I definitely missed all the brotherhood and friendliness here, and I think I've actually matured enough to maybe help someone out on here for once instead of just trolling the music forums.
But yeah, I wanna know how everyone's doing and such.

Good to see you folks are still holding down the fort.

Stuff with me is pretty chill lately. I'm even more immersed in music now than I was before and I've got an alternative/delta-blues/avant-country (think Tom Waits, Hank III and Jello Biafra jamming on Robert Johnson tunes) project that I've doing which will be doing it's onstage debut saturday. This is my first time ever doing a solo-acoustic set (aside from street performing when I'm broke) so I'm liable to shit my pants on that stage, but it's gonna be fun. I'm also doing some engineering and production for a couple local acts and building guitars for extra cash.

Ah, the things you can do when you never sleep.

The problem with playing solo is that you have no one else to blame when you fuck up. I think I did alright though, I got asked to come back and play again anyway.

I'll try to get some pictures of my guitars up here at some point for you guys. They're nothing fancy, it's like cigar boxes and broom sticks and hubcaps thrown together and sold for WAY more than they're worth. I have a few fancier things I've had kicking around the back of my mind for a while but just haven't gotten around to doing them.
I really wanna build a standup bass out of a mannequin and throw some like training wheels on it, I think that would be badass.

Some of my older stuff is probably floating around out there somewhere, I think theres a song or two from my "get stoned and play jazz through a fuzzbox" period on an old myspace page, but I don't have anything recent kicking around anywhere and my recent stuff is the stuff I'm actually proud of. I got into playing the dobro and it just turned my whole life upside down, and I'm only just now starting to come into my own as a musician.

A dobros an acoustic guitar with one of those hubcap looking things on it. My picture right here is me playing my dobro, who is possibly the greatest guitar on the face of the earth after my crazy mod-job.
And I'll definitely try to get some of my stuff to you guys. It's mostly just me playing the dobro and "singing" while stomping a block of wood for percussion.
