if you email him or talk to him - whats the worst that can happen? if it means you get that closure you really want, great - that might be just what you need to move on.
also be prepared for that to bring it all back and make you love him more (you can sometimes forget someone a bit and seeing them again brings those things back). but if you cant move on anyway - it wont matter what he says or does will it>?
